I am a board-certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner, independently licensed in Iowa. I have over 20 years of experience caring for adults, as well as children and adolescents, in a variety of settings. These settings include inpatient hospitalization, outpatient, ER crisis services, adolescent group homes, and forensic settings. I have also worked with patients in outpatient assertive community treatment (ACT) programs and adult forensics. My practice consists of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic mental health conditions, including prescribing medications and some therapy.
My areas of specialty include working with children/adolescents and adults, ages 6 and above. My interests include treating mood disorders, including depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, as well as co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, and other populations.
My goal is a quality, whole-person comprehensive approach to mental healthcare through evidence-based best practices. Patients are the center of the care team, and together we will develop a comprehensive plan, involving medication and therapy to address the needs and goals of the patient. I believe in the importance of a collaborative approach to delivering care that encompasses everyone on an individual’s care team, including primary medical care providers, specialists, therapists, and the individual’s natural supports. This model promotes collaboration across the continuum and allows for better outcomes.
